Thank you for visiting my website. I am the founder and owner of the Law Offices of Michael D. Sheehan. I grew up here and have lived in Washington since 1977. I graduated from both Whitman College in Walla Walla and Seattle University School of Law. Currently, I live with my wife and son in King County. As a resident of this state for the past 45 years, I care about my fellow Washingtonians and my law practice is dedicated to serving you.

I specialize in fighting traffic tickets - I’ve been fighting tickets here in Washington since 1995. I devote my law practice exclusively to traffic matters to make sure that my clients receive the time, effort and expertise they deserve.

I Fight Your Ticket in Court

Since 1995, I have convinced judges to dismiss more than 30,000 tickets for my clients. When a judge dismisses your ticket, the ticket does not appear on your driving record, the insurance company does not raise your insurance rates and the Department of Licensing does not suspend your driver’s license. In every case I take on, I fight to protect the driving records, driver’s licenses and insurance rates of my clients.

I have represented clients in more than 50 courts of law statewide. I know our state’s traffic laws inside and out. More importantly, over the past 25 years I have established long-term, professional relationships with the judges and prosecutors who will decide the outcome of your case. I know which legal defenses work in each court, as well as which defenses do not work. Through hard work, experience and professional courtesy, I have earned a reputation with judges, prosecutors and police officers as the best traffic attorney in the state. They know that I do not settle for just good or acceptable outcomes for my clients. They know that I fight to obtain the best possible outcome for my clients – in each and every case.

A Dismissal is the Best Possible Outcome

In my experience, many defense attorneys at the start of each case contact the prosecuting attorney and immediately accept the first plea bargain offered to amend your moving violation (such as “speeding”) to a non-moving violation (such as “expired vehicle registration”). This is the easiest course of action for a defense attorney to take; it means that the defense attorney won’t need to spend any time preparing your case for court or arguing your case to the judge. What is best for the defense attorney, however, may not be best for you. An amendment will prevent the moving violation from appearing on your driving record but you end up paying a fine to the court in exchange for the amendment to a non-moving violation, in addition to paying the attorney’s fee. An amendment to a non-moving violation might be an acceptable outcome, but it is not the best outcome.

I am determined to secure the best outcome for each client. The best outcome is when I convince the judge, through legal argument, to completely dismiss your ticket. When the judge dismisses your ticket, you do not have to pay a fine to the court. Dismissals save my clients anywhere from $100 to $300 per case. For this reason, my clients want and deserve dismissals, not amendments.

I schedule, prepare for and attend the court date, then notify you once the judge has dismissed your ticket for me. You do not need to communicate with the court and you do not need to appear in court.
